Note for the New Year!

Hey, Men! Hunter, here. Just a quick update on some of what we have in store for Men's Discipleship this Winter here at Zarephath. Consider the opportunities listed, and if you have questions feel free to contact me, I'd love to talk with you.

The new year before us is a great time to recallabrate ourselves toward the life we trully seek. Thats what I am doing this New Year, reconsidering the kind of husband, father, friend and man I want to become. Reimagining the abundant life I want to experience, pushing the boundries I have set for myself, into God's massive hands. Paul tells us that God has a life that goes beyond anything we have ever thought or imagined. So I am asking God to open me up to more of this kind of life. I know that this can only be seized in community with God's people. So I'm committing to surrounding myself with brother's in Christ who can challenge, inspire and hold me up to the authentic life I desire and long for.

That's what Men's Discipleship is all about. Men reimagining their lives from God's vantage. Men who have a tenacious commitment to following God with all their heart, who desire nothing more, and nothing less, than to experience authentic life.

I am not there yet, but if you want to join me and others as we move forward on this journey in 2009, consider coming to our Men's Discipleship Night or one of the other events listed here. Feel free to contact me. I hope to see you there!
Your brother.
Hunter

Walking with God with John Eldredge

Many of you journeyed through our study Wild at Heart this Fall and were deeply challenged to live a life fully alive in Christ. Well, another opportunity awaits you this Winter to connect with God as well as other men at Zarephath, with our study in John Eldredge's new book Walking with God! This is a great opportunity to explore what it is to really hear God speaking into our lives. This is straight to the heart teaching, and no-nonsense connection with other men. Take this opportunity to grow!
We begin our Discipleship time this Winter on Thursday January 15th at 7:30pm with a full throttle game of broomball! We will commence our study in earnest the following week.

Broomball is back!

Back by popular demand, it's Broomball! That's right. Break out the old "oak and straw", (aka brooms), strap on the sneakers and head on out to the ice rink for a night of fierce manly Broomball! That's right, I said manly and broom in the same sentence. Broomball, that strange hybrid of floor hockey on ice and household cleaning. It defies all categorization. Come on out for a night of testosterone-infused madness on ice. This event is being done in conjuction with the Zarephath youth group. If you have a son who is in Junior High or High School bring them out for this modern day "miracle on ice", a great opportunity to connect with your son.

When: Jan 15th at 7:30pm
Where: Bridgewater Sports Arena
1425 Frontier Road
Bridgewater, NJ
Cost: $10 (pay Hunter at the door.)
No skates required, we don't skate. (this ain't the Ice Capades, my friend!)

Bring a broom!
Wear sneakers
Bring a friend.

Low skill, big heart? Broomball is for you!!!

The Band of Brothers Weekend is not a retreat! It is not an attempt to tame you and mold you into a domesticated, church going nice guy. It’s not about religion! small group sessions, journaling and times alone, you will experience what it means to be fully alive for the glory of God! And it will introduce you to a band of brothers - a group of men who have joined arms with one another and joined ranks with Jesus Christ to fight for their wives, children and friends.

FAQ’s: *How does Band of Brothers Weekend relate to Wild At Heart?
The message of this camp is based on the insights and themes
brought out in Wild At Heart. The camp itself is directly modeled
after the Colorodo based Wild At Heart Boot Camps put on by John
Eldredge and the Ransomed Heart team. We recommend that you purchase and read
Wild at Heart or the shorter book Epic before attending the weekend.

*What adventure activities are planned?
All activities are optional (but recommended!) and include high ropes/climbing,
skeet shooting, archery, sports tournaments and more. Paintball will be offered as
a paid option during the weekend. (see registration form for details).

*What if I’m not a religious guy?
Perfect! This weekend is not about being more religious or trying to get everything right. That’s a dead end road. If you ARE a religious guys we hope this weekend will help you move from the routine of religion to abundant life and freedom.

*Is this designed as a father and son event?
All men 18 years and up are invited to attend, but the weekend is not specifically
designed as a father and son event. We do encourage you to bring a friend or two along.

*What do I need to bring to the weekend?
Clothes, bedding, personal items, a towel, a journal of some kind, pens, and money for
snacks or paid activities.
